SPRINGERLE COOKIE ORNAMENTS

Springerle cookies were among the traditional ornaments used to adorn Pennsylvania German tabletop trees. 

These springerle cookies have been cured for many months and are a very traditional PA German folk ornament. Here in Lancaster County, these simple but elegant ornaments have been lovingly hung on PA German tabletop trees since the 19th century. Ours are handmade, one at a time, as they have been for hundreds of years. These are actual springerle cookies, but have been well-cured, and are ribboned with pretty gold ribbon. With proper care they will keep for many years as beautiful adornments on your Christmas tree, or as decorations in your home. We have had some in a shadow box for fifteen years! They are a fragile item, and we do enclose detailed, simple care instructions with each order. We have many hundreds of designs, and ask that you allow us to choose a nice mix for you. Designs will vary greatly, and may include people scenes, animals, fruits and flowers, holidays, and many other traditional motifs. We will NOT duplicate any designs in your order. Each order comes with a brochure on the history of springerle cookies. Try these on a feather tree with traditional popcorn garland…simple, elegant, and gorgeous!
